Maison Sajou has a very special relationship with the Musee Toile de Jouy in France. Sajou has produced products for their gift shop with many of the lovely toile patterns that are part of this museum's history. It traces the work of Christophe Oberkampf who's factory made toile during the 18th century under the name of Jouy. In this lovely box you will find six buttons on the subject of Toile de Jouy: printing, garancage (dyeing), whitening, painting, Jean-Baptiste Huet – designer at the Oberkampf manufactory and Christophe Oberkampf with his grandson, Emile. It is a lovely museum to visit with some of the original fabrics!
These models were inspired by our large pattern chart dedicated to the Oberkampf Manufactory in Jouy en Josas where the famous Toiles de Jouy were printed.
Each button has a diameter of 25mm or 1".
The image is fixed on a metal base and covered with a small acrylic dome.
They are a perfect imitation of 18th century buttons.
These buttons are made in France and are nickel-free.
They can be machine washed up to 40°C with a gentle spin programme.
Turn the garment inside out to avoid them rubbing against the drum.
