Bayeux Tapestry - Animals Embroidery Kit

$74.00

We love historical needlework and the Bayeux Tapestry is one of the world's most famous embroideries.  The history of this piece is fascinating and we are pleased to present the Battle of Hastings kit featuring the animals you find in the tapestry.

This cross stitch complete kit comes from the large pattern chart created by Frédérique Crestin-Billet evoking the Bayeux Tapestry. The finished pillow shown above features Sajou fabrics on the sides and the back of the pillow.  These are complimentary fabrics are sold separately.

On both the bottom and top of the Bayeux Tapestry are found borders, sometimes interrupted by the central scenes. Domestic and fantastic animals, sketches and various symbols, sometimes these borders give an impression of being in coherence with the main scene, sometimes they represent a little tale or a fable which has nothing to do with it. This project was created by exploring this magnificent iconography. On the first line you will recognise agricultural scenes: ploughing, sowing and harrowing. The third and fifth lines represent hunting scenes while in the sixth line you will recognise the famous fable by Aesop, The Fox and the Crow.

Size of motif : 180 points 180 points.
Sewn on 12 count embroidery linen: 30cm x 30cm.

This kit contains:
- full-colour pattern chart is printed on a large 60cm x 29cm sheet of paper;

So neatly packaged, and so easy to get started with these Sajou projects! I’ve already begun, and this is a charming design. Also, thanks to Tres Chic for the unexpected gift!
