Years ago, household scissors, known as "laundry scissors", were used for the upkeep of clothes and bed linens. Traditionally, these domestic scissors were divided into three different size categories. Up until the 20th century and the advent of ready to wear clothes, most clothes were made by the homemaker, so these scissors were a staple and highly prized.
- the "embroiderers", small scissors for embroidery and lacework (between 8 and 12 cm).
- "linen scissors", household scissors for bed linen and small cuts of cloth (between 12 and 18 cm).
- the "dressmakers", scissors specifically intended for dressmaking (16 cm upwards).
The SAJOU laundry scissors have chrome handles and blades. The interior of the handles is decorated with delicate leaf motifs. Length: 14 cm. Weight: 60g. As with all quality scissors, these have traces of pairing: before dipping the steel, the blades are perfectly adjusted a first time to "make a pair". They are marked, generally by a number, as being two parts of a precise pair of scissors. They are then seperated before dipping, which gives them their hardness, reassembled and readjusted. The pairing marks are placed on the scissors hinge so cannot be seen when they are closed.
Presentation: Sajou floral motif box. SAJOU ribbon fixed by an eyelet on one of the handles.
