We are big fans of Ruth Miller and her fascinating embroidered portraits. She was our featured artist this past February. Ruth's work will be featured in two upcoming shows. "The Evocation and Capture of Aphrodite" will be on view in a group show as part of its Red Clay Survey Exhibition, July 9 -- September 24, 2017. Huntsville will have its Red Clay Preview Party on Saturday July 8th from 6:30pm -- 8:30pm. It will include live music, wine and hors d'oeuvre at a cost of $25. The Huntsville Museum of Art is located at 300 Church St., SW in downtown Huntsville, Alabama
"Thinking Art into Being: Ruth Miller's Contemporary Embroidery" will be presented by the Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art from June 13 through August 19, 2017. This exhibition will allow you to see the process by which ideas become art. Photographs, sketches and written descriptions will be displayed beside finished tapestries. Bring your friends and any questions you have to the Artist Reception, FREE to the public on Friday, June 16, 2017- 5pm until 7pm. Wine and cheese will be served. The exhibition is funded by the Mississippi Arts Commission, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency."
